Atmos Energy in Abilene

Posted by coreyn in Untagged

Atmos Energy's Employee Meeting was held in Abilene, Texas at the historic downtown Paramount theatre. The Paramount was built in 1930 and is the only structure of its splendor between El Paso and Ft. Worth. Restored in 1986 to its current state, the theater has 1,199 seats and a domed ceiling with moving clouds and glittering stars. Opening night was May 18, 1930 featuring the film "Safety in Numbers," which is fitting because of the importance of safety in the natural gas business.

SGA Network helps Atmos produce their quarterly employee meetings and they use our satellite network to broadcast live.  Abilene was tricky because of high winds and the satellite uplink truck had to be ‘tied' down with cables from some of the Atmos field engineers.

If we can be of any help with your employee meetings, please let me know.

Thanks,

Natalie Corey, ncorey@southerngas.org

Creating, Conveying & Owning a Vision

Posted by coreyn in Untagged

"Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion." - Jack Welch

As we move into February 2011 and strive to meet our new year goals, it's important to remember our vision, ‘where do we (or I) want to go?'

This month's theme is Creating, Conveying and Owning a Vision".  Dr. Steve Shaha shares great concepts.  How do we raise the bar for our organization and perform better? Why is Vision so important?  And then how do you set goals and keep that vision alive?

"Sticking To it - Setting Goals" with Dr. Lee J Colan is a good archived web conference in the SGA Network content library.

Why Natural Gas

Posted by coreyn in Untagged

Happy 2011!

If you haven't had a chance to view the "Why Natural Gas" program, then please take 30 minutes to check it out.  We've had a great response from members and we want to spread the good news about Natural Gas.

Here are a few comments about the January program:

Atmos:  I was very impressed with the speaker and the material - they started from the earth's layers to the real end-user.  Great job!

CenterPoint:  The broadcast provides me with some basic knowledge that I can share with others when I get inquiries about why one should choose natural gas instead of other alternatives.

Oklahoma Natural Gas:  This was a great presentation.  All employees in the gas industry should see it.

Questar:  I will incorporate this program in our new employee orientation.

PSNC Energy:  Great educational tool - great story about natural gas - should be required viewing for all natural gas employees.

SCANA: This was a very well organized presentation.  I have worked for the natural gas industry for a while, but I learned so much from this presentation.

Enjoy!
